About Marathon

Marathon is a Beneteau Idylle 11.5 built in France in 1985.  She has a sloop rig with an added inner forestay and has had numerous equipment and other upgrades to prepare her for an offshore voyage.  She has a white hull, white sails and “cadet grey” canvas. “Marathon” appears on both sides of the hull forward and on the transom.  Marathon’s home port is Vancouver, Canada. Many details can be found at Marathon’s Details under links, in case anybody is interested.

On deck she has a liferaft canister in front of the dodger, solar panels on top of the dodger and bimini and a mast-mounted wind generator mounted on the stern just forward of the transom.  Additional fuel and water is being carried on deck in jerry cans.

  1. This message is for Peter. I am currently in Nicaragua with John, got here Tuesday and fly home Apr. 30. Hot and sunny. It’s good to be back and reconnect with friends I have not seen for more than 5 years. Started a couple of English classes for children and there is some interest form a few of the adults although they are generally busy working and often tired at the end of a long day.
